Why Backup Access Data?

If a user needs to restore all of his database after a recent system failure, then having a backup copy will be a great help. Sometimes the 'Undo" command doesn't suffice to restore all of your data. Data backup was needed at this time.

Steps to backup Access database

  • First, open the database from which you want to create a backup.
  • Click on the option titled 'File' in the taskbar.
  • You can then tap on the "Save As" option.
  • Select the "Save Database As" option found under "File Types".
  • Next, click on the "Back Up Database" button. This option can be found under "Advanced".
  • Click on the "Save as" button to open a dialogue box.
  • This box allows you to review and edit the database backup's name. The date the backup was created will be displayed as well.
  • You can now choose the file you want from the Save As type list.
  • When you're done, click on the "Save" button.

How to recover missing objects from a database?

  • First, open the database where you wish to restore the object you choose.
  • Click on the "External Data" option to restore objects that are missing.
  • After navigating to the Import & Link’ group, click 'Access.
  • Click on the "Browse" option in the dialog box.
  • Once you have located the database that you want, click "Open".
  • In this step, select the option "Import tables and queries, forms reports, macros, etc. into the current database".
  • Tap 'OK' to select the object you wish to restore.
  • This is how to restore an object. Follow the prompts to import them. It can also be done for other objects.
